Project TELLUS was developed in 2018 during the artist residency at The Firestation in Doha, Qatar. The video was projected in a dark room. Seven images, one for each of the stages of the Tellus project, were printed and displayed on the wall outside.
The Seven
TELLUS
This work explores various metaphysical themes, represented through abstract interpretations of the evolving synchronisms between mind, spirit, body and machine. The subjective approach to cycles, repetition and chaos are intended to create divergent notions of time and ethereal space. Interior worlds portrayed through light, geometric and organic shapes with both simple or intricate architectures. Based on the speech «All the world´s a stage» (from As You Like It, spoken by Jacques) by William Shakespeare, we find seven stages in the life of Man, seven stages comprehended in this piece. These portraits are meant to represent different emotions and link them to the notion of time, memory and the loss of it, truth and false history, joyfulness and insanity that comprise an hermeneutical approach to the Self. The progressive/regressive nature of this experimental narrative piece is dictated by these elements within each layered context.
